Where do you teach?
My studio is in Berlin (Schöneberg). I also teach online.
Do you teach the Taubman approach?
Yes.
Are online lessons as good as in-person lessons?
A lot can be done online and many issues can be addressed effectively this way (a separate webcam that allows for varying the viewing angles is recommended). However, online lessons are not a perfect replacement for in-studio lessons: working in the same physical space often allows for faster and more efficient progress, direct listening, physical guidance, etc. Especially in cases of playing-related injuries, it is recommended to combine online lessons with in-studio work if possible.
Is the Taubman Approach a therapy?
No, it is a systematic analysis and pedagogy of piano technique, aimed at ease, virtuosity and—above all—musical expression.
However, the precision of its analysis also makes it highly effective for curing and preventing playing-related injuries. One reason it first became known was its high rate of success in bringing injured pianists back to health.
